THE MERSEYBEATS can only be described as one of the most powerful exciting bands
currently performing 'live' music on stage today.
A Merseybeats performance is spectacular and pulsating experience,
classic hits' Think Of You' 'Wishin & Hopin' and 'Sorrow'
are combined with emotive ballads and explosive pyrotechnic sets.
The award-winning group are:
Tony Crane (founder member 1961 ) lead vocals and lead guitar
Billy Kinsley (founder member 1961) lead vocals and rhythm guitar
Bob Packham (joined 1974) backing vocals and bass guitar
Adrian Crane (Tony Cranes' son joined 2000) keyboards and lead guitar
Lou Rosenthal (joined 2000) drums
Founder member and lead singer Tony Crane has led The Merseybeats from the outset and
guided them through four and into five decades of popular music. Tony is accompanied on stage
by fellow founder member Billy Kinsley, together with members
Bob Pack ham, Adrian Crane and Lou Rosenthal
they ensure that The Merseybeats retain their status as one of our favorite bands of all time!
The Merseybeats were signed to Fontana and received their first hit in 1963 with
'It's Love That Really Counts' followed the next year by their million selling 'I Think Of You'.
Success continued with ' Don't Turn Around' and 'Wishin & Hopin'
'Last Night' 'Don't Let It Happen To Us' 'I Love You Yes I Do'
'I Stand Accused' 'It's Love That Really Counts' 'Mister Moonlight' 'Lovely Loretta'
The Merseybeats appeared regularly at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club
appearing with The Beatles on more occasions than any other band from that era, a fact
they are proud of and look back with many a unique and fond memory.
The Merseybeats were so popular in Europe that they had own TV show in Italy.
By 1966 Tony and Billy re-branded themselves as The Merseys and had a huge
hit with 'Sorrow' which has become a sixties classic and was later covered by
David Bowie who recorded it as a tribute to his favorite band!
